Can I afford the same wedding? No. Will I still search? Yes.

For many of us, following every detail of a celebrity wedding is a guilty pleasure.

Everything from the extravagant displays to the most intricately detailed dresses, it’s all binge-worthy.

A new study has revealed that when it comes to an A-lister wedding, we are just as fascinated by the ceremonies from years gone by as we are with the ones that have taken place more recently.

Taking a list of over 100 of the most influential married stars from 1923 to 2023, experts at Chapel of the Flowers analysed the search volumes for celebrity weddings in America.

1. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck

One thing is for sure, we love a reunion of soulmates as Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s wedding in 2022 was the most Googled celebrity wedding of the year.

The pair began dating in 2002 and got engaged that year, but later postponed their wedding in September 2003.

The ‘Gigli’ co-stars officially called it quits in January 2004.

However, as the saying goes; ‘What’s meant to be will be’ couldn’t be more true for this couple as Lopez confirmed they had rekindled relationship in July 2021.

J-Lo and Ben married eachother in Las Vegas in July 2022.

2. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker

I mean, is it even a list if one of the Kardashian sisters doesn’t feature on it?

These two have never been shy about declaring their love for one another so it makes sense they would land in the number two spot of most Googled celebrity weddings.

The couple, now known as ‘Kravis,’ were longtime friends and neighbours before they began dating in January 2021.

By October of that year, Travis had proposed and then went on to have three wedding ceremonies in 2022; one spur-of-the-moment wedding in Vegas, an official ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, and the Dolce & Gabbana-hosted Italian wedding in Portofino.

If you guessed that the Italian nuptial ceremony was the one to land them on this list, you’d be right.

3. Queen Elizabeth II and Philip Mountbatten

It seems we got nostalgic for wedding inspiration in 2023 as the late Queen Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten were the third most Googled celebrity wedding this year.

This wedding led to the longest marriage in royal history, and it all began with a very fitting and elaborate wedding at Westminster Abbey in 1947.

The ceremony hosted approximately 2,000 guests with royalty from all over Europe in attendance.

Philip sadly passed away in April 2021, with Queen Elizabeth passing over a year later in September 2022.

4. King Charles II and Diana Spencer

It’s no surprise that royal weddings dominate Google searches as there is no higher level of elegance above them to inspire to.

This was especially the case on the day Princess Diana stepped out in an Elizabeth and David Emanuel-designed wedding gown to marry King Charles II in London in 1981.

Diana was renowned for her ladylike, stylish, and sophisticated fashion choices, and was adored worldwide for her courage and kindness, making this entry an understandable one.

However, as we all know, the marriage was not a ‘happy ever after’ as the couple separated in 1992 and their divorce was finalised in August 1996.

Sadly, Diana died a year later on August 31st, 1997, devastating millions around the world.

5. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

The same media and public interest that once followed Princess Diana, now follows her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Her youngest son’s wedding to Meghan Markle is the most viewed wedding to date, with an estimated 1.9 billion watching the nuptials, surpassing that of her oldest son’s wedding to Kate Middleton.

Harry and Meghan’s wedding took place in Windsor in 2018 and was jam-packed with a wealth of A-listers.

Meghan’s timeless and elegant gown was designed by Givenchy artistic director Clare Waight Keller and has served as prime inspiration for brides-to-be.

The couple now reside in Montecito with their two children; Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2.
