Florence Pugh said they were bullied over their relationship

Actress Florence Pugh has opened up about why her relationship with Zach Braff ended.

The couple was met with major backlash over their 21-year age gap, but Pugh said their relationship was happy until the trolls got involved.

She admitted these online trolls bullied them and they’re one of the reasons their relationship ended after three years.

Pugh told British Vogue: “I had to be public (with my relationship) in the past because people were bullying me and bullying my partner.

“Mine and Zach’s relationship was actually quite private until it was nasty, and I could see the toll that it was taking on him and us and our families, and that’s when I spoke out,” she said.

Pugh said people had a major issue with their age gap, but the public backlash caused so much distress for both of them.

“I think for anyone I’m with, I want to protect them. It’s not nice knowing that people are saying the worst things I’ve ever read about someone that I love. So that was necessary.”

The Little Women actress said she struggles with social media because people can be so cruel.

“(The internet’s) a very mean place. It’s really painful to read people being nasty about my confidence or nasty about my weight. It never feels good,” Pugh said.

Pugh and Zach Braff ended their relationship after three years, but the actress confirmed she’s dating someone new.

Pugh told the publication: “We are figuring out who we actually are. Something that I resonate with is that I believe that if magic is real, then it’s falling in love.”
