Elaine Crowley reveals real reason she signed up for Dancing with the Stars

Elaine Crowley is the latest celebrity to leave Dancing with the Stars

The journalist was voted out of the competition last weekend but said it was an experience she'd never forget.

"Sad to be leaving you all but my poor legs will thank me! And thanks to everyone for all the support over the last 4 weeks - your kindness was very much appreciated. Best of much to my dancing buddies," she added.

Elaine said she was disappointed to be kicked out of the competition.

However, she revealed the real reason she signed up for the show.

She said the main reason she wanted to take part was to help make her family happy.

She told RTÉ, "It was probably one of the most difficult things I've done in my life. I'm not going to lie - it was very, very challenging and very, very hard.

Elaine said losing was a "bit mortifying" but stressed that it was mainly a fun experience.

"Nothing serious happened, everyone is still alive, I'm still alive. My legs are still in place - just about. You just have to really put life in perspective.

"I just wanted to cheer my family up, to be quite honest. That's the only single solitary reason. In fairness, I didn't do it for myself, put it that way!" Elaine added.

She continued, "I did it for my family to give them a giggle."

Dancing with the Stars continues next Sunday at 6.30 pm.
