Sharon Horgan said she was ‘angry’ at herself for not ending her marriage sooner
Irish actress Sharon Horgan has opened up about how she wishes she filed for divorce sooner than she did.
Horgan was married to TV producer Jeremy Rainbird for 14 years before she ended their marriage in 2019.
During an appearance on Elizabeth Day’s How To Fail podcast, the actress admitted she was angry for not leaving sooner.
She told the journalist, “I feel like weirdly it was connected to confidence.
“We got together, we had a baby, and we made it work for a long time, and we had another baby, and he was involved in the business.
“But there came a point where it was so clear that it wasn’t right for either of us,” Horgan said.
The actress continued, “Anyone who’s been married knows what it’s like to want a divorce, but I had no idea.
“It’s an odd one because, I’ve never been happier but I’m angry at myself, not for the failure of the marriage but for not figuring it out earlier.”
Horgan said we only have one life so staying in an unhappy relationship simply isn’t worth it.
“It’s so destructive I think, and I mean you get one life and that’s an awful lot of time to spend on something that’s not working.”
The actress welcomed two daughters, Amer and Sadhbh, with Jeremy Rainbird.
