Irish presenter Doireann Garrihy gives birth to her first child

Doireann Garrihy is officially a mam

Doireann and her husband, Mark Mehigan, announced the news on Instagram last night.

The new parents shared an adorable photo of themselves and their newborn daughter to confirm the news.

Alongside the sweet family photo, Doireann revealed the name of her baby girl.

The new mam wrote, "Our baby, Rosie. A love like this we’ve never known."

Doireann praised the staff at The Rotunda Hospital in Dublin for taking such good care of her and her newborn.

"So beyond grateful to Rotunda Hospital and just how minded we feel," the mum shared.

The name Rosie is of Latin origin and simply means 'rose'.

Doireann's followers showered her with loving messages following the announcement.

Carl Mullan said, "Welcome to the world, Rosie. Massive congrats to you both. Go on, Mam, ya superstar."

"The most perfect baby girl, we love you so much, Rosie," Ailbhe Garrihy added.

Another said, "Awww the greatest love. The greatest adventure! Enjoy the bubble and congratulations to you both."

Bláthnaid Treacy added, "Awwwwww congratulations, Doireann and Mark, what a beautiful name! Pure magic."

Doireann and Mark revealed they were expecting their first child together in April.

"We are beside ourselves with joy. Here’s to the greatest chapter yet," they announced on Instagram at the time.
