Demi Moore has shared an update on the health of her ex-husband, Bruce Willis, who stepped away from acting in 2022 due to his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia.
The Die Hard star, now 69, continues to receive unwavering support from his loved ones.
Moore, 61, was married to Willis for 13 years, during which they welcomed three daughters: Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah.
Despite their 2000 divorce, the pair still have a close bond, blending their family with Bruce’s current wife, actress Emma Heming Willis, and their two daughters, Mabel and Evelyn.
In a recent interview with CNN, Moore spoke openly about Willis’ condition and the family’s commitment to working together.
“Given the givens, he’s in a very stable place at the moment,” she shared.
Reflecting on navigating his illness, Moore said: “It’s so important for anybody who’s dealing with this to really meet them where they’re at, and from that place, there is such love and joy.
“It’s obviously very difficult, and it’s not what I would wish upon anyone. There is great loss, but also great beauty and gifts that can come from it.”
Moore also spoke about the significance of family, particularly as it evolves over time.
“Even from when Bruce and I separated and divorced, it was important to me to recognise that we’re a family, and we’ll always be a family – just in a different form,” she explained.
“It’s not just me; it requires everyone to come together, and it’s lovely. I’m really so grateful.”
Willis’ family first shared news of Bruce’s health challenges in 2022, revealing his diagnosis of aphasia, a condition that initially impacted his cognitive abilities.
In a statement, they announced his retirement from acting and thanked fans for their support.
“This is a really challenging time for our family, and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion, and support,” they wrote.
“As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up,’ and together we plan to do just that.”
Bruce Willis’ acting legacy spans decades, with unforgettable roles in Die Hard, Pulp Fiction, Armageddon and Moonrise Kingdom.
