Irish actor Colin Farrell revealed it took him three years to start acting like a father.
The Dublin man, 36, admitted he struggled to get his head around fatherhood after his son James, now eight, was born.
He opened up to Miriam O’Callaghan on her RTÉ Saturday night show,’ Saturday Night With Miriam’, and said; “Eventually I changed but not when I had him first. For the first three years of James’s life I was going ‘I’m not going to change. I’m just going to be his friend. We’re going to be pals.’ But that didn’t work out so well.”
Farrell is also father to Henry who will be three years of age in October.
He also spoke about his son James’s development disability, Angelman Syndrome.
He told the RTE matriarch his son had not had a seizure in a long time.
“They’re great. They’re both doing really well. James is doing wonderful. He works his arse off. He has Angelman Syndrome so his journey is a little bit more unique.
“He’s happy and healthy and hasn’t had a seizure in over two years.”
Colin also attended the Berlin premiere of ‘Total Recall’ on his trip home.
Colin, who named his first son after his late grandfather Jimmy Monaghan, admitted he now calls the boy James.
The star said; “I called him Jimmy for three years and it never felt right. He’s just not a Jimmy. I was like imposing my own will on it. But he is a James.”

Farrell spent his few days at home for the ‘Total Recall’ premiere meeting up with friends, stocking up on his favourite Irish food and using his local gym in Dublin. We’re sad to see you leave again Colin!
