It looks like Britney Spears could be taking another shot at acting, confirming today that she has landed a guest role in US sitcom Jane The Virgin.
Having previously starred in the 2002 film Crossroads, the 33-year old announced the news earlier today, saying the opportunity was a ‘dream come true’.
Tweeting her excitement, Britney wrote:

It seems Britney wasn’t the only one excited by her appearance on the show, with stars Gina Rodriguez and Jaime Camill also sharing their excitement at working with pop royalty.
Rodriguez, who plays waitress Jane in the hit sitcom shared Britney’s enthusiasm, posting:
Literally fell out my chair @britneyspears I can not wait to work with you beauty! I’m covered in goosebumps. This is unreal!!! — Gina (@HereIsGina) August 11, 2015

Meanwhile Jaime retweeted Britney’s announcement, welcoming her to the team:

In a statement released to media, a spokesperson for the show said:
“We’re really excited. We have a backstory, it turns out she is a real nemesis of Rogelio’s, but the sort of quality of their attraction is a little bit in dispute between what Rogelio thinks and what Britney thinks.
“When we found out she was a fan, we said, “Would you please, please be on the show?” Happily she said yes.”
Britney has previously guest starred on US sitcoms Will and Grace and How I Met Your Mother. She also acted as a judge alongside Simon Cowell on X-Factor USA for one season before quitting to concentrate on her music career.
