Bill Nighy has shut down rumours that he is in a relationship with Anna Wintour after the two appeared on the red carpet together at the Met Gala.

At the event on Monday night, Anna was joined by the ‘Love Actually’ star as they linked and posed for pictures. The two were first romantically linked back in 2021 when they were spotted on a dinner date together, but nothing was ever confirmed.

In December of last year, the rumours only spiralled more when the 73-year-old was seen attending a private screening of Bill’s film ‘Living’ at The Crosby Hotel in New York.

Despite being linked arm in arm and with many fans assuming the two were debuting their relationship, a rep from Bill’s team has confirmed that’s not the case.

They told Page Six: “Bill and Anna have simply been great friends for two decades. They are not in a relationship.”

While Anna’s team are yet to make a comment on this, a source close to the Vogue editor-in-chief told the publication: “We think last night speaks for itself”.

Anna was previously married to child psychiatrist, David Shaffer in 1984. The couple had two children together, Charles who was born in 1985 and Katherine who was born in 1987.

The two ultimately split in 1999, with many news publications and gossip columns claiming the reason was due to an affair Anna had with investor Shelby Bryan.

Bill has never been married before but was in a relationship with long term partner Diana Quick. The two first began dating in 1982 and remained together until 2008.
