Alison Hammond leads tributes to Holly Willoughby after This Morning departure

An emotional Alison Hammond has led tributes to Holly Willoughby.

Yesterday evening Holly announced her shocking departure with immediate effect from ‘This Morning‘ on Instagram after police uncovered a plot to kidnap and murder her.

Holly and Alison had become a regular fixture on people’s TV screens especially since Phillip Schofield left the show earlier this year.

In her emotional Instagram post, the presenter said that it was an “honour to just be part of its story” but that she feels “I have to make this decision for me and my family.”

The comment section was filled with messages of support in the wake of her announcement with her colleague Alison Hammond leading the outpouring of love.

“This is a very sad day! Love you,” Alison penned as another former co-host Rochelle Humes added, “This is a sad day, we love you x.”

Another regular on the programme, chef Clodagh McKenna wrote: “Your star will continue to shine everywhere you go. You have given us all so much love and light, in front and behind the cameras. I am so grateful for everything you have given me… I love you so much darling beautiful Holly, the sunshine of our days.”

“Wishing you and your family peace and strength in what must be a very difficult time after the news of last week Holly x, I know that the team will miss you very much. Take care,” added Carol Vorderman.

The mum of three has been under police watch after it was revealed that a man in his 30s was planning on kidnapping her.

Police acted quickly and ensured the presenter had the right protection, but Holly was reportedly very shaken following the news.

Gavin Plumb, 36, stands accused of planning to kidnap and murder the TV presenter. Police have arrested the suspect and he has since been charged.
