Ali Bastian is undergoing cancer treatment in Cork
English actress Ali Bastian has posted an emotional video of her shaving her head following her breast cancer diagnosis.
The actress, who is currently living in West Cork, said hair loss is "a small price to pay for the chance to be well again".
In the moving video, Ali's husband helps her cut her hair and she later shaves the remainder of her hair off in their Cork home.
Alongside the moving footage, the mum wrote: "When you have breast cancer, every month is breast cancer awareness month.
"Hair loss is just one aspect of all of this that we all wish wasn’t a side effect but I know it’s not forever and a small price to pay for the chance to be well again.
"The deeper I get into my treatment, the more I see this as an outward expression of how stripped back and raw it feels right now."
The former Strictly star said sharing this feels like a step toward her future.
"Also sharing as this feels like part of my way… not ‘back’ to myself… as I will be forever changed… but forward towards my future…to show up as I am right now.
"In the truth of today. For all of the warrior women going through this. You are not alone," she added.
Earlier this year, Bastian confirmed she had been diagnosed with stage two breast cancer.
Ali said the diagnosis has been a total shock for her and her family, but she’s receiving incredible treatment.
The actress is being cared for at the Orchid Centre at Cork University Hospital.
Fans have hailed the 'brave' mum for documenting her cancer diagnosis.
