Have you ever wondered what the most popular book is in Ireland? Thanks to Goodreads, we have compiled the most-read books that we are absolutely loving in Ireland this week.
The number one pick won't be a surprise to many people, but it is one book you absolutely need to read. Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke is officially the most-read book in Ireland right now.
Released in April 2026, the new release dominated charts and became an immediate Sunday Times bestseller. In no time at all, Yesteryear has become one of the most talked-about books of 2026, and for good reason.
Yesteryear follows modern trad-wife influencer Natalie Mills, who spends her days documenting her idyllic and traditional life to her followers. She has a rustic and charming farmhouse, her husband is a handsome cowboy, and each child she has is more perfect than the last. Who needs to know that she has nannies and producers behind the scenes? Definitely not her eight million Instagram followers.
Then, one day, Natalie's perfect life is flipped upside down. She finds herself transported back to the 1800s, the exact time period that she has been romanticising online, with no comforts, no modern technology, and no safety net to fall back on. Natalie has no idea how she got there, but she knows she must escape by any means possible.
Yesteryear has been declared a 'must read' by book lovers worldwide, and it's no surprise that it is the most-read book in Ireland at the moment.
Ahead of the book's release, Amazon and MGM Studios announced an official film adaptation of the bestselling novel. Reportedly, they won the rights to Yesteryear in a major bidding war involving three other studios. Anne Hathaway is set to both produce and star in the film.
The Truth About Ruby Cooper by Liz Nugent and The Correspondent by Virginia Evans were the second and third most popular novels consumed in Ireland this week. Freida McFadden's Dear Debbie and Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary made up the remainder of the top five.
