Gisèle Pelicot will publish her first memoir ‘A Hymn to Life’ in 2026
Gisèle Pelicot has announced she is publishing her first memoir titled A Hymn to Life.
Pelicot became a symbol of strength and fortitude after she waived her right to anonymity in the trial which found her ex-husband guilty of drugging, raping, and inviting 72 men to rape her while she was unconscious.
The brutal attacks occurred over nine years between 2011 and 2020.
Her ex-husband Dominique Pelicot was sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in prison in 2024.
50 of the 51 men on trial were also convicted of raping, attempting to rape, and sexually assaulting Gisèle.
Her memoir will offer hope, share her story in her own words, and “make a positive contribution to changing the conversation around shame and to changing the world”.
Her publishers at The Bodley Head, an imprint of Penguin, said the book will also offer solace and hope.
Speaking about her memoir, Pelicot said:
“I am immensely grateful for the extraordinary support I have received since the beginning of the trial.
“I now want to tell my story in my own words. Through this book, I hope to convey a message of strength and courage to all those who are subjected to difficult ordeals.”
She added: “May they never feel shame. And in time, may they even learn to savour life again and find peace.”
A Hymn to Life by Gisèle Pelicot will be published early next year.
There’s no doubt it will be a heartbreaking but also a vital read.
