Penneys is reportedly planning on replacing their cotton pads with a more sustainable option.
The brand is set to discontinue the popular product but for a good reason.
Beauty lovers have been advised to stock up on the cotton pads, but it is not clear when the cotton pads will be discontinued.
One TikTok user shared the news with shoppers and some are pretty disappointed.
However, others have praised the move and think it’s great that the store is trying to be more sustainable.
One wrote: “Good move primark. I use reusable ones for skincare and they are so much better for the environment and your skin.”
Another said: “Cotton pads feel awful on my skin and don’t properly cleanse anyway.”
“The reusable ones will be fine I’ve used similar and they are great. About time a company did something to help the environment when most don’t care.”
The move comes after the brand promised to be more sustainable.
Earlier in 2023, Penneys trialed the removal of disposable cotton pads in over 100 stores. The trial was so successful that the team decided to extend it across all stores.
As part of their Primary Cares initiative, the store will now sell reusable cotton pads instead.
This alternative will be widely welcomed by shoppers, especially because it is more affordable. You won’t need to constantly repurchase the product but instead can wash them regularly.
Primark confirmed: “Our customers had a great reaction and were willing to make a switch to a reusable alternative. As a result, we will be phasing out the sale of our cotton rounds across all stores in exchange for our new reusable cleansing pads.”
