However, we also know that when starting off it’s not always easy. Securing funding can seem daunting, and it might be tricky to know where to look for help and guidance.

What’s more, you could secure a boost to help you with your business. Visa have teamed up with iFundWomen to offer five women-owned businesses the opportunity of a lifetime through Visa’s She’s Next Grant Programme.

What’s on offer?

Through Visa’s She’s Next Grant Programme, women-owned businesses will be offered the chance to win one of five €10,000 grants plus a year’s coaching from established industry leaders.

Who can apply?

Visa’s She’s Next Grant Programme is open to women-led businesses in the Republic of Ireland, and there are five categories to apply to:

1. Micro business

Sole proprietorships or microbusinesses with no more than two employees.

2. Early-stage business

Businesses founded and incorporated between the last 6-24 months.

3. Small business

Any business with less than 50 employees.

4. Changemakers

Businesses that drive significant and positive changes in social enterprise or sustainability efforts are welcome to apply in this category.

5. Innovation and Tech

Businesses that are disrupting existing business models, tech businesses or businesses that are focused on developing new technologies are encouraged to apply to this category.

Rosie Joyce won the grant in 2021, for her business The Habit Store, a brick and mortar shop in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, where customers can use their own containers to buy and refill goods.

Fiona Fahy, the founder of Feed Me Mother, was awarded the Early-Stage Business grant for her sustainable breastfeeding clothing brand. Today, she’s on a mission to empower new mums with a stylish breastfeeding wardrobe.

The Shona Project’s founder Tammy Darcy won the grant in 2021, and today she’s on a mission to help every girl in Ireland achieve her potential.
