This is one of the biggest mistakes wedding guests can make

This is one of the worst things a wedding guest can do

Attending a wedding is always such a joy, but there’s a lot of stress involved in planning your big day.

One of the biggest stresses is setting out your guest list. Whittling down who you’re inviting can be one of the biggest headaches for the newlyweds, but you’ll eventually come to a decision, just after a lot of bickering.

More and more couples are opting for intimate weddings because they’re cheaper, but it’s also easier to solely invite your closest family and friends.

People are that little bit more understanding when it comes to smaller weddings, but others continue to break this major unwritten wedding rule.

We’d never even consider this, but many people are guilty of bringing a plus one to a wedding without asking the couple.

According to Jo Hayes and dating coach Emily Thompson, this is one of the biggest mistakes a wedding guest can make.

Showing up with an uninvited guest not only puts pressure on the couple, but it also causes hiccups for the venue.

They told MailOnline:

“Weddings are expensive events to put on, which often means limited guest capacity.”

“Your invitation should specify in so many words, ‘and guest,’ or else your plus-one is strictly not allowed.”

We need to remember just how expensive weddings are for couples, so putting even more financial pressure on them is a bad move.

The average couple is spending between €25,000 and €36,000 on their big day in Ireland.

If you really want to bring a guest, then make sure to ask the couple before and don’t just show up with a random guest they never invited.
