Bride furious after friend demands entire wedding menu is vegan

This is a stark lesson in why you should have boundaries with your mates.

A woman has revealed how a dietary demand from a friend ruined her wedding day.

The woman, who posted her story on social media, said that when she started planning her wedding, she thought it would be all about her and her partner.

Somehow, her friend took over, insisting the entire event had to be 100% vegan.

At first, it seemed like the friend was just passionate about beliefs, but as the pressure mounted, it became clear there was another reason behind the push—one that had nothing to do with ethics.

As reported by Brightside, the disgruntled bride wrote: “My best friend is vegan, but she’s usually pretty chill about it. If we go somehwere that has options for her, she’s good to go.

“The problem started when I was planning my wedding. She insisted that the entire menu be vegan. I thought she was joking.”

She continued: “I said no, but I’d have the option for her. Then she accused me of being selfish! I said, ‘fine, you don’t have to come!’, but she ended up coming anyway.

“During the reception, I almost cried from embarrassment when she suddenly got up, knocking over the chair behind her. She was following her plus one, who was heading towards the stage. He grabbed the mic and started going off about how ridiculous all those people were for eating meat.

“I don’t remember most of what he said because I was so shocked,” the bride added. “My friend didn’t know what to do, and in that moment, I realised she was worried about how her new boyfriend would react at a non-vegan wedding.

“He left after his little speech. My friend, mortified, came over to apologize to me and my husband. She knew he had strong opinions about veganism, but she’d told him that my wedding was important to her, so he should accept the menu as it was.”

She finished: “Needless to say, they’re not together anymore, and now we all laugh about it. Every wedding needs a moment like that, right?”

It’s safe to say it’s probably for the best that the relationship didn’t work out.

Remember people, being vegan means choosing your own diet, not forcing it on others—just as no one should be forced to eat meat.

Respect should go both ways.
