Taoiseach Enda Kenny was attending a Fine Gael fundraising event in London on Friday night when he was confronted by two pro-choice protesters.
The women, activists with the group Speaking of I.M.E.L.D.A., were chanting “Repeal the 8th” in reference to the 8th Amendment which is an important part of the abortion debate.
Pro-choice campaigners want this amendment revoked, paving the way for limited, legalised abortion.
Before the women were removed from the room by security, one of them dropped a pair of knickers, emblazoned with the words “Enda, Repeal the 8th”, on the table in front of the Fine Gael party leader.
