Will this affect you?
WhatsApp has confirmed that it will cease to operate on certain phones in the New Year. It’s down to the change in technology which will no longer be supported by older models.
From the start of January, BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10 and Windows Phone 8.0 and older will no longer be able to support the popular messaging app.
There will be further devices affected in later years, like the Nokia S40 and any Android phone with 2.3.7 updates and older.
According to The Sun, the company said:
“This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp.
If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone.”
