There’s a secret one-handed iPhone keyboard we never knew about

It's new to us!

Rebecca Keane

Everyone and their mother has an iPhone these days.

The pesky little pieces of machinery have ingrown themselves into our hands, with many of us temporarily without an iPhone feeling like we’re missing a limb. (Guilty).

With so many updates for the iPhone available, it’s hard to know how to even use a phone these days but luckily there are plenty of hacks, fixes and updates to be found if you look hard enough which will set you on your merry way once again.

One developer has found another hack to using the iPhone which unlocks a single-handed keyboard, a service many of us coffee-drinkers or work lunch-eaters could do with when we’re multi-tasking our arses through another day.

According to METRO, developer Steve Troughton-Smith has found code for a a keyboard which requires only one hand.

From tweets, Steve has showed that with one swipe across the keyboard, the keys are closer together and can be tailored for right-handed people or lefties.

Apparently, this feature has been present in the iOS code since ‘iOS 8’ but for whatever apparent reason, Apple has not officially launched the feature. Could this be a feature of our precious phones in the future?

Looks like we’ll be waiting another while at least…
