Who doesn’t love a bargain-hunting success story?

We all saw the gorgeous fashion at the Galway Races saturating our newsfeed, but one price-savvy woman took home the award for Best Dressed Lady at the Galway Racing Festival.

Maritess McCarthy, from Douglas, Co. Cork, walked away with €10,000 and the best bragging rights any girl could ask for.

Dressed in a Filipino-inspired outfit, the Cardiothoracic theatre nurse caught judges, Rachel Gorry, Mandy Maher, and Kieran O’Malley’s eyes and was hailed as the winner of Connacht Hospitality Group’s Best Dressed for Ladies Day 2023.

Maritess was then awarded the suitcase with the cash bonanza by the general manager of the Connacht Hospitality Group, Wayne Neilon.

Maritess’ outfit was made by a Filipino designer named Raffaella when she travelled home to the Philippines, and the headpiece is by Elizabeth Christina Design, also known as Tina Coyne from Cork.

The gorgeous crystal-embellished clutch carried by the mother of two is Jimmy Choo and is pre-loved. Meanwhile, her exquisite shoes were also Jimmy Choo.

Maritess donned a very unique gold ear cuff called “3 Stars and a Sun,” bought online from Australia.

I think we can all agree she looked incredible!

Speaking about her winning look, Maritess said: “I wanted a unique and elegant outfit that will also show my heritage. I’ve always love red and bright colours hence I picked red and gold,” she explained.

“I couldn’t decide what to wear, so I bought my outfit while visiting my home country, the Philippines.”

What’s more? The entire outfit cost no more than €200.

Talk about getting bang for your buck.
