I don’t know about you, but I have fully embrace the concept of ‘self care Sundays.’
Come Sunday evening, when I finally have both my kids tucked into their beds, I love nothing more than to get into my bathrobe, and treat myself to some very much needed me-time and self-care. I will slap a hair mask in my hair, do my nails, dry brush, take a long bath with Epsom salts – whatever it takes to make me feel good and refreshed and ready for the week ahead.
I am also a huge fan of natural beauty, and try my best to avoid using things on my skin that I do not want also ending up inside it.
And this is why I am always on the hunt for gorgeous DIY recipes for skincare I can whip up at home – and preferably ones that actually work too.
Recently I came across this recipe for a two-ingredient face mask over on Lauren Conrad‘s lifestyle blog (HUGE fan – ever since The Hills…). The mask contains nothing but plain, Greek yogurt and probiotic capsules (which I also have on hand, being a bit obsessive about gut health).
“Greek yogurt contains lactose enzymes, which dissolve dirt and nourish your skin. Essentially, it works like a cleanser while the probiotic invigorates your skin leaving it with a lovely glow.”
Sounds good, right?
Also – the recipe for this very refreshing sounding face mask could not be easier:
What You Need:
1. cotton balls
2. probiotic capsule
3. cold, plain Greek yogurt
How To Do It:
To make this mask, simply split open the probiotic capsule and mix it into 3 or 4 tablespoons of Greek yogurt in a small bowl or dish. Using a cotton ball, apply the mixture to your face in an even layer. Let the mask set for 10 minutes then rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a towel.
And so last Sunday, I whipped this mask up (I did as Lauren said and used two probiotic capsules stirred into the yogurt), applied it to my face and left it for 15 minutes while sitting back and watching Netflix.
And guys – it really, really felt SO good on my skin. And when I washed it off, I swear my skin looked so fresh and glowy, and this still was the case come Monday morning too!
I think I’ll try it again this Sunday – I mean; at that cost and with so little effort involved, what’s not to love?!
