Trend Watch for Autumn/Winter : Borrowing from the Boys

Clean lines and minimal colour palettes are big new this season as fashion takes a masculine turn

Cathy Donohue

Boyfriend jeans have been around for a few seasons now, owing to both their comfort and simplicity.

This season we are going one step further and taking lessons from the male species; clean lines and minimal colour palettes are the way forward ladies.

A white shirt is a wardrobe staple for both males and females but the masculine cut is where it’s at this time around. This one from Topshop is nicely  tailored but at £36 (€42) it won’t break the bank.

Structured pieces and sharp tailoring are essential for this particular trend, saying that a little lace never hurt anyone. This River Island jumpsuit is a brilliant buy at €67, definitely an item in your wardrobe you will keep returning to when your favourite little black dress just isn’t cutting it.

This Awear jacket €80, is similar to the Zara one that sold out last winter. Warm, comfortable and most importantly, dipping into the masculine trend without going overboard. We love it…
