This boy knows his own style and he ain’t afraid to celebrate it in all its meticulous, confusing detail.
The ‘Sydney Morning Herald’ conducted one of those “street style” vox pops, where the journalist spots a fashionable person on the street and grills them about their look.
Kudos to writer Tara Kenny for approaching her latest subject Samuel Hains, a self-described “web developer, mystery blogger and jazz kitten”.

The interview reads:
I am in Travancore.
I am a web developer, mystery blogger and jazz kitten.
I am wearing Osh Kosh B’Gosh overalls I found in a vintage store in Tokyo, a beret given to me by my dear uncle, a black turtleneck from Uniqlo, a tote by my favourite feminist provocateurs, Ladies of Leisure that says “Feeling Myself” because self love is underrated, and my shoes are Nike.
My style is bucolic socialist with improvised elements (like jazz). Sometimes I just wear something random, like a lab coat!
I admire the style of Trotsky in leather, Albert Einstein, John Coltrane. I’m not only inspired by people, but places and ideas. I spend a lot of time down at the docks and source inspiration from the architecture.
My favourite place to shop is K Mart. I like to re-imagine chain store garments and pair them with high end fashion, like my Chanel cape.
My biggest fashion mistake was lensless Wayfarers.
When I was a kid I wore an all-orange Fubu tracksuit with a spray tan.
I would never be caught dead in neo-hippie “bush-doof” couture, a small, inefficient beanie, or anything less than extraordinary.
This Her.ie correspondent, for one, was baffled by what Samuel had to say.

And I wasn’t the only one. “Bush doof” seemed to trip a lot of people up.
And Samuel’s style decision to wear his dungarees backwards also confused some people.
We might not understand everything you have to say Samuel, but you sir, are a hero. Just do you babes.
And we’re not the only ones to love him for bringing some joy into our Monday morning.
