No, thanks.
You may have noticed that Kate Middleton favours a certain type of shoe, generally, a nude, court heel and this particular shoe choice is part of royal etiquette.
You’ve probably noticed that the mother of three rarely wears sandals and a court shoe is almost always the order of the day.
This may not be Kate’s personal preference though for closed-toed shoes are actually deemed necessary, in royal circles at least.
An expert in this subject, Willian Hanson, spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about how open-toed footwear is generally frowned upon.
“Open-toed shoes are considered informal footwear and inappropriate for formal occasions”.
Inappropriate no less.
Hanson also said that guests who attended the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were asked to wear knee-length dresses and avoid open-toed shoes but not everyone followed this stipulation.
For Meghan’s first appearance post-wedding, a garden party at Buckingham Palace for her father-in law’s birthday, she chose a rather conservative ensemble.
This may have had something to do with the fact that it was a royal occasion and so there was a certain type of dress code.
The Queen and Meghan are due to make a joint public appearance in Chester, England next Thursday (June 14) and we can’t wait to see what Meghan wears on the day!
