You could study style for years, and still have scope to learn more.
An interesting topic that doesn’t always get the love it deserves, with some dismissing it as frivolous.
We wear clothes everyday (although a duvet day now and then is compulsory), and wearing something you love can often change your mood.
In homage to the dynasty that is style, this A-Z guide will bring you a little insider information on one of our favourite subjects, this week concentrating on all things D.
Donna Karan
Donna Karan initially established herself in the fashion industry with her Essentials line, which was made up of seven key pieces which could be mixed and matched to create a capsule wardrobe. Her design ethic is to concentrate on clothes that she would wear herself. There’s nothing about me that’s stark,” Donna Karan once said. “Eclectic, comfortable, grounded in the earth," is how this reputable fashion designer described herself to the
Chicago Tribune.
DSLR
Any fashion blogger worth their salt will be able to tell you what a DSLR is, what it's used for and why. A digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR) has unbeatable control and you can customise with this lens too. From shutter speed to aperture, camera pros will know just how important investing in one of these beauts is. If you're an up and coming fashion blogger hoping to be taken seriously, then DSLR is the way to go.
Diane Von Furstenberg
Diane von Furstenberg can be credited with making the iconic wrap dress a popular buy, that has lasted down through the years. She's a designer favoured by more than a few celebrities including the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama, Kate Beckinsdale and Jessica Alba. In 2006, Diane was selected as President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and she still holds this position today.
Dries van Noten
Belgian fashion designer Dries van Noten is often described as having an eccentric style. His designs fell out of favour during the late 1990s but made a comeback the following decade. Not a haute couture designer, his lines are ready to wear and are available to buy in many shops. He has dressed both Cate Blanchett and Maggie Gyllenhaal for awards ceremonies and has established quite an impressive fan base. In 2006, he was quoted as saying, "I don't want to be a big player,". His success happened gradually and now he is one of fashion's most loved names.
