A new sustainable Irish retailer stocking stunning vintage designer bags has just launched, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store.
Saving up to buy that dream designer handbag is always a thrill, but some of the items we lust after are simply priced far beyond what the normal person would want to spend.
This new brand, By Nothing New, claims to be Ireland’s answer to designer circular fashion at an accessible price point.
The founders noticed there was a growing demand for sustainable fashion options in Ireland, but the luxury retail lovers didn’t have as many options to feed their fixation on all things designer.
Speaking about the exciting launch, Isabelle O’Reilly, Founder of by nothing new explained: “We identified a gap in the Irish market for vintage designer handbags targeted at the demographic known as “Zillennials” – Gen Z & Millennials.
“The designer bags we sell at by nothing new are timeless pieces with a young and cool look, at an accessible price point.”
She went on to say their options are wide ranging, so “whether someone is buying their first designer bag, or trying to make a more environmentally conscious purchase, by nothing new aims to offer a place to do that.”
The brand describes itself as having “attainable sustainable fashion” as their main objective “with goals to reduce fashion waste and the demand for mass produced fast fashion goods in Ireland.”
How will it work?
The retailer will release designer bag “drops” every month, with their first June drop being a huge success.
Drop two is scheduled for Sunday July 2nd, and it promises to include bags from designers such as Prada, Fendi and Louis Vuitton.
O’Reilly added: “Dublin is quite far behind comparable cities, such as London, in what sustainable alternatives are available in terms of circular fashion.
“By nothing new’s ethos is engrained in young people’s desire to not buy new items.
“Buying vintage is a way to extend the life cycle of an item and save it from landfill whilst reducing demand for more mass-produced fast fashion items.”
The retailer is currently operating exclusively online, appealing to the tech native generation who have grown up having access to the internet, smartphones, and social media, making the company’s target market one that is comfortable navigating online platforms and making online purchases.
