Spring Summer ’14 Trend Overview: Part One

New season trend forecast...

Cathy Donohue

In a bid to distract ourselves from the grey skies and bitter cold we have turned to lusting over spring summer fashion.

It might not be the weather for it just yet but there’s no harm in planning our wardrobes and looking forward to what’s set to drop in the shops.

There are a lot of trends en vogue this season and to start we have detailed three of our favourites.

Pretty Pastels

Well, it is spring so pastels are an obvious inclusion. However, it’s how you style sherbet shades that make sure they stand out from the crowd. A simple but fashionable way to add a little edge to a candy coloured piece is add a heavy chain necklace or some form of embellishment. We love this lemon jumper £28 (€34) from Topshop and this fluffy cardy, €50 at River Island. Gold jewellery teamed with pink and silver with mint or even a two tone piece is your shortcut to spring style.

Sports Luxe

If you’re a fashion fan and like to keep up with your trends you will have noticed that the bomber jacket is everywhere. Taking inspiration from the DKNY spring summer 2014 collection which packed a pretty powerful punch, the high-street is set to receive an influx of oversized varity tshirts, bright bombers and loose cami tops. Try this tee €10 from Penneys and cami top €20 at River Island.

White Out

We realise it’s not the easiest colour to wear but if you’re feeling brave, it’s a winning look. Even pairing a white embroidered top with tailored black pants amounts to sophisticated style with little effort. Choose a statement neckpiece or layer gold chains, then wear heels, white t-shirt and skinny jeans for easy glamour. This embroidered top, €20 from River Island is ideal for those who love detail and to keep it simple try this blouse, €34 from Warehouse.
