Maura Higgins going full Kardashian, and the rest of the top red carpet looks at the National Television Awards

Leslie Ann Horgan

Maura’s giving us the fanny flutters…

It was a good night for Ireland at the UK National Television Awards last night, with wins for Peaky Blinders (we love you Tommy!!!) and Mrs Brown’s Boys – which surprisingly managed to beat Fleabag for the comedy prize.

Elsewhere, Longford’s Maura Higgins managed to make a serious statement on the red carpet – going what we can only describe as ‘full Kardashian’.

Escorted by Love Island beau Curtis Pritchard, Maura sent the photographers into a frenzy wearing a sheer dress embellished with strategically-placed lilac crystals, and marabou feathers at the sleeves. Her hair was slicked back into a ponytail and her make-up set off with black winged lined.

It was sizzling – and she knew it.

Below are some of our other best dressed highlights from the night.

We love this pewter beaded gown on reality TV star Billie Faiers, who simultaneously looks covered up but has her incredible figure on show. We’re thinking The Greatest Showman meets Dita Von Teese… and we like it.

Just when we thought we’d seen enough of the suit trend, Genesis Lynea comes along in this. We love the colour and her jewellery game is strong, but it’s the Casualty star’s hair and make-up that steals the show here. That perfect berry lip pout is the stuff of dreams.

So often beaded column dresses are yawn-inducing, but the angular shoulder piece on Kara Tointin’s navy dress elevates into exciting territory. It’s a little bit of regal – Kate Middleton vibes – but the actor’s ear cuff and tousled hair keeps it fresh and young.

Velvet, studded and with a bustle worthy of a superhero, there’s nothing that’s not extra about The Vivienne’s outfit – but somehow the black makes it look classy rather than brassy. The lashes and earrings are fabulous but it’s the  former Drag Race champ’s pink-tinged hair that really wins us over.

We’re still feeling headbands this season and we LOVE that this dress has pockets. The satin skirt is sweet, but the plunging top makes sure that Georgia Toffolo doesn’t look like she’s at her debs. Very Blair Waldorf.

If you described this dress to us – with its high slit and one shoulder of layered silk – we’d hate it, but in reality it just sort of works. Points for how comfortable Call The Midwife star Laura Main looks in this, and also for those nude-but-not-boring shoes. Can we see this on Saoirse Ronan please?
