Going to the gym or a sports class isn’t the most glamorous of activities but that doesn’t mean you can’t look good in the process.
Here are a few simple ways you can jazz up your sports outfits and don’t worry you won’t break a sweat trying to follow these steps.
1. Just because you’re wearing sports gear doesn’t mean you have to abandon everything you know about fashion and your own shape. What we mean is you should continue to wear what you feel comfortable in and what flatters your shape for going to the gym. After all you don’t want to feel self-conscious. You want to feel at ease and able to concentrate on what you’re doing as opposed to what you’re wearing. If that means going for a loose t-shirt rather than a tight vest top, so be it. Stick to what you know.
2. There is a tendency among women to wear dull colours for exercise. Perhaps the reason is that you’re just going to the gym and therefore why should you make an effort? We’ll tell you why! You deserve to look and feel fabulous wherever you go and your clothes should reflect this at all times. Wear bright colours and bold patterns. Colour block and clash to your heart’s content. Just because its sports gear doesn’t mean you can’t be on trend. Besides you might end up running opposite a cute guy on the treadmill.
3. Layer up when you exercise. Not only does it look better than walking around in an over-sized hoodie, in which you are probably sweating profusely, but it also enables you to strip off according to your body temperature. Wearing layers that are too heavy for you whilst exercising can cause you to overheat which has been known to lead to fainting or vomiting. Similarly it is not wise to exercise when you are cold as this increases the risk of injury. With layers you can strip off as you see fit and besides they look nicer.
4. As with all types of clothing, accessories can make or break an outfit. Now we’re not saying you should put on your best jewellery or splash out on a new handbag for heading to your exercise class but you can brighten up your gym attire using accessories. A colourful scarf around your neck or a patterned beach bag for your belongings are both perfect because they are practical as well. These smaller details will add a bit of glamour to your outfit without going overboard.
So the next time you are heading out to the gym or are on the lookout for sports gear think a little bit longer about what clothes your choose. Just because you are being practical and comfortable doesn’t mean you can’t be fashionable and gorgeous.
