First Look: Topshop Unique Goes Interactive at London Fashion Week

Invitation to Topshop's LFW show lost in the post? Never fear because the high-street giant is bringing the buzz of fashion week to a computer screen near you.

As the saying goes, there’s no business like show business and high-street trailblazers Topshop have adapted their forthcoming LFW show (Sunday at 3pm) to showcase just how interactive and accessible a catwalk show can be.

Online streaming of fashion shows has revolutionised the way the fashion industry works and has arguably made fashion more democratic. Anyone with an opinion can now report on the shows as they happen and pre-ordering collections straight from the runway is becoming increasingly popular.

However, the fashion team at Her.ie are a little torn about Topshop’s latest interactive invention.

Purists might think the virtual FROW down-grades the whole fashion week experience and possibly question why a designer label would allow random punters creative input. And if we’re honest, it is a little bit gimmicky.

Features include “Customise the Catwalk” allowing viewers to change the colour of certain items as they come down the runway and a “Shoot the Show” function so you can pretend to be a fashion photographer, virtually snapping the looks as they appear which are then shared on your Facebook page.
