If you like it and would like to put a ring on it… step right up!
One of the most special pieces of jewellery you’re ever likely to own, an engagement ring is something that’s a very personal choice for every bride to be and her fiancé, and with a million different styles on the market, there’s sure to be one that’s absolutely perfect for you.
Half the fun is shopping though, (even if it’s only window shopping and marriage is nowhere in your immediate plans), so we’ve been checking out some beauties on your behalf. Have a flick through the gallery above for five of our favourites from Weir & Sons, (well, if it’s good enough for Rita Hayworth and Princess Grace of Monaco), and set your sights to ‘sparkle’…
Tips from Weir & Sons on buying an engagement ring:
- There are many different choices to make when buying an engagement ring. The first big one is the metal type, with options of yellow gold, rose gold or platinum. Each complements different skin tones and tastes. For men buying without the knowledge of their other half, it is always a good idea to check the colour of the jewellery she wears.
- When looking at rings set with diamond shoulders always run your fingers over them to see if there are any sharp areas – this will ensure the ring does not catch on clothing. Weir & Sons microscopically set diamonds into the shoulders, allowing a greater degree of accuracy and keeping the shoulders smooth.
- The wedding ring should also be taken into account when buying an engagement ring. Buying an engagement ring which is wed set (meaning a straight wedding ring will fit flush next to the engagement ring) makes buying a wedding ring much easier.
