But one look has recently topped the charts as the most memorable Oscars' dress of all time.
You'd be wrong if you thought it was Julia Roberts in her little vintage Valentino in 2001 and you'd be wrong again if you thought it was Kate Hudson in Versace in 2003 (although both are extremely educated guesses).
The winner is in fact, Angelina Jolie and her 2004 cream satin Marc Bouwer dress.
A breathtaking gown featuring an unusual but equally stun halter neck design and yeah, it's a worthy winner.
Angelina walked the red carpet in 2004 solo and then later in the night she took to the stage to present the Oscar for Art Direction to "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King".
Her look was voted most popular by an online survey conducted by OnBuy.com. They quizzed over 3,000 people on their favourite Oscars looks and Ange came out on top. Her look was followed closely by Kate Hudson's dress mentioned above.
