We’re completely obsessed with H&M’s new Conscious Collection

Dreamy.

If you have a special occasion coming up or just feel like treating yourself to a beautiful outfit, then H&M’s new Conscious Collection should be your first port of call.

A sneak preview of the collection was shown to Irish press this morning and these pieces are starting to arrive in store now.

The full-length blush ruffled dress, the ombré tulle beauty and if you want to revisit your five-year-old self, the pink glittery number is all kinds of fun.

We spoke to Catarina Midby, Sustainability Manger for the UK and Ireland, to find out a little bit more about the collection and why it should be on every fashion maven’s radar.

If you had to pick just ONE piece from the collection, what would it be?

I love the whole collection and would happily wear it all, but if I had to choose one piece it would be the plum and powder recycled polyester tulle dress. It is so beautiful and will look equally amazing with sneakers and a leather jacket as it will with heels and a wide belt for the evening.

What is the inspiration behind the collection?

The inspiration for this collection comes from human senses, choosing materials not only by their look but also by how they feel and sound. Large sequins in airy formations and jacquards that are both sheer and three-dimensional shows the construction of the material and what is worn underneath. In addition, the traceability of each garment and transparency of production is described in detail on the H&M website.

Who do you think is the H&M Conscious girl?

Anyone can be a Conscious girl or boy, or indeed a child. The collection is versatile and each piece has a unique design. It’s all about how you wear it, and how you express your own personal style. Conscious Exclusive is one of our most high-end collections made of 80% or more sustainable materials.

Catarina also told us that there’s a set of organic perfume oils to be worn individually or blended to a personal scent so if you’re looking for a new and unique scent, this could be worth a look.

Although the price range of this collection is considerably higher than H&M’s standard range, the quality and craftmanship are second to none plus you’re making a sustainable fashion choice which means it’s practically guilt-free (or so we’ll keep telling ourselves anyway).

Check out the image gallery for some of the stunning pieces which start to arrive in selected stores and online from April 20th. Statement pieces such as these tend to sell out quickly so if you’re a fan, you’ll have to act quickly…
