Celebrity Smalls

There's big money in teeny-weeny scraps of material, which our celebrity friends know only too well. Here's our guide to the famous ladies with lingerie lines.

Rebecca McKnight

There’s big money in smalls! Here are five famous ladies (well, six including a duo), who made a mint from magic knickers and sexy silks.

Elle Macpherson

The one who led the way. Aussie siren Elle, aka The Body, was responsible for one of the first model/designer crossover successes way back in 1990. She was originally approached to front a campaign for Bendon, but spotted an opportunity and instead suggested a line bearing her name, created in collaboration with Benson designers. She was on to a winner; the line became an instant success in both her native Australia and the UK.

Caprice

California girl Caprice was well used to being seen in her smalls from her modeling days, so in 2000 she jumped at the chance to design a lingerie line for Debenhams. Six years later she ceased the license deal and went solo with By Caprice. The line is still going strong and the model has expanded her empire since with lines in swimwear, sleepwear and bedding.

Geri Halliwell

The flame-haired former Spice Girl may not be one of the first famous names you’d turn to for style nous (we still haven’t forgiven her for those SG inspired platforms we wore…), but she most be doing something right as her original line of swimwear for Next has been followed up with a red carpet collection and a lingerie line too. Very girly and flirty, and actually quite cute – nice work Ginger Spice.

Kelly Brook

We’re still not quite sure why it is that Kelly Brook is famous, but there is no denying she looks unreal in her pants. No wonder, then, that high-street fave New Look snapped her up to be a poster gal for curvy girls, creating and modeling het first lingerie line for the store in 2006.  A hit with customers, her design stable for the chain has now expanded to include clothing too.
