British Presenter And Style Icon Alexa Chung To Launch Her Own Label

The British television presenter talks about launching a label, being an ambassador with the British Fashion Council and her own quirky style...

She’s constantly topping style lists and influencing the high street shopper’s wardrobes.

She’s one of the UK’s best-dressed exports and she has won the Style Icon award twice at the British Fashion Awards. She was awarded with a specially created ambassador role for the British Fashion Council.

She even has a Mulberry handbag named after her…

And now Alexa Chung, the girl who helped put London on the fashion map, has confirmed she will launch her own clothing label.

In an interview with Japanese fashion magazine Numero Tokyo the presenter said; “Yes, I’m definitely going to do that [start fashion label]. I’m looking into it right now.

“I’ve got nothing to lose, it’s a bit of fun. In this current era of celebrity no one believes you actually design the stuff anyway, even though I sketch everything myself.

“So if it sucks I can say I had nothing to do with it, and if it’s really good I can say ‘Here are the drawings, it’s all my own work!”

The Brooklyn-based English girl showcases her eccentric charm in the photo-shoot. The magazine cover shows Alexa posing prettily in an English country garden wearing a felt fedora hat and a daintily-laced dress.

Alexa arrives at the Men’s London Collections for Esquire, Mr Porter and Jimmy Choo in June.

Speaking of her role as an ambassador with the British Fashion Council, Alexa said; “I plan to wear lots of British clothes abroad!

“I am really happy to be doing it.

“I used to dream I could go to fashion shows and now I’m living that dream.

“I love Christopher Kane and Mary Katrantzou and Erdem. London Fashion Week is really dynamic these days.”

But even though the presenter will be showcasing new British designers on a daily basis, she said she won’t be leaving go of her own androgynous style  anytime soon.

“When I was modelling, I was trying to dress like other models, Diesel Jeans, white vest and crap boots.

“As soon as I realised that I didn’t have to fit into that cliche, I went a bit mad and thought “I don’t wanna look like anyone else”.”
