Great news for Penneys and Primark fans this morning and especially for those Irish who are living and working abroad in the US. The budget fashion chain have announced they will be opening their first store in the US.
According to the Irish Times, Associated British Foods, which operates the chain, has signed a lease for a space in the Burnham Building in Boston.
The retailers will also be adding other stores to the North East of the US, the first of which will open at the end of 2015. They have also announced that they will be expanding through Europe.
According to the Examiner, the retailer has seen a massive jump of 26% in profits over the last six months and has decided to make the move after “extensive research.”
The chain, which currently operates under the Penneys title in Ireland, now has a total of 269 stores. It first opened on Mary Street in Dublin in 1969.
