Jessica Lange wore a Calvin Klein black lace creation in 2005 to collect the Best Actress Academy Award for her role in Blue Sky, epitomising elegant chic.
Another stand-out piece was Natalie Portman’s amazing violent Rodarte creation in 2011 when she took to the stage to claim her award for Black Swan.
Valentino has always been a popular choice on the Oscars red carpet, worn by Best Actresses including Cate Blanchett, Sophia Loren, Jessica Lange, Julia Roberts and Elizabeth Taylor.
Christian Dior too has made an impact with leading ladies: Reese Witherspoon chose the haute couture designer to attend the 2006 Academy Awards, where she took home the Best Actress gong for Walk The Line.
Jennifer Lawrence also wore Christian Dior for last year’s Oscars where she was crowned Best Actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, not only was it a gorgeous dress but her epic fall (because she was thinking of cake, apparently) made her all the more endearing.
