Professional dancer Karen Byrne has revealed the one thing she won’t allow at her wedding following her recent engagement to Jake Carter.
Jake Carter and Karen Byrne met in 2018 on Dancing With the Stars. The pair were partners in competition and soon got romantically involved after winning the glitterball trophy.
Carter and Byrne announced the engagement on social media in March 2025.
In a recent interview with Evoke, the couple said they were “fairly confident” that they would plan their wedding with little hassle.
Carter said: " I think we're gonna take our time and go and see every hotel in Ireland before we actually decide where we're gonna do it”.
“Yeah, we know it's gonna be in Ireland, but we just haven't decided where yet”, Byrne added.
Despite their love story starting at a dance competition, Bryne said to the publication that the first dance would not be a choreographed routine:
“That's the pressure, because people are like "Oh, 'cause you met on the show, but I don't know? Is that not a bit cringey if you try too hard for your first dance?”
Carter jokingly suggested a Samba routine, to which Byrne replied:
“I'd actually die of embarrassment.”
“I think I'd be the complete opposite and be like "C'mon, Jake, let's leave our first dance".
Carter noted that if his fiancée refuses to choreograph one, he would do it himself.
The first dance is one of the most romantic parts of your wedding day, but we can't imagine the pressure a professional dancer would feel during that moment.
