A young woman was stabbed to death in Kilkenny city last night.
Reports this morning say that the woman was working in a shop in the Market Cross Shopping Centre when she was attacked and fatally stabbed, at approximately 8:30 p.m last night.
A man in his 20s was arrested after Gardaí searched the scene and he is currently being questioned at Kilkenny Garda Station, according to the Irish Independent.
Emergency services were called and the woman was rushed by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Gardaí have confirmed they are treating the death as a murder investigation.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out later today.
