The three-year-old girl killed in yesterday’s road accident in Co. Laois has been named locally.
Rosaleen McDonagh sadly passed away in a road accident in Laois on August 30th.
Gardaí have launched an investigation following the tragic accident. They issued a statement shortly after the young girl passed away, confirming the collision involved a car and a pedestrian.
It occurred at 1. 15 p.m on Cosby Avenue in the Fairgreen residential area of Portlaoise, Co. Laois.
Rosaleen was seriously injured during the accident. She was rushed to Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise where she was later pronounced deceased.
The scene of the incident on Cosby Avenue is currently preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), and who were in the Fairgreen area of Portlaoise this afternoon between 12.45 pm and 1.30 pm, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

Rosaleen is the second toddler to be killed on Irish roads within 24 hours.
Tom O’Reilly, also aged 3, died in a separate road accident in Tipperary on August 29th. His grandparents, aged in their 40s, were also killed in the accident.
