An urgent search has begun for a woman who fell overboard during a Taylor Swift themed cruise.
The incident occurred last night in the Bahamas when a 66-year-old woman went overboard on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas cruise ship at around 9:40pm.
The ship had departed from Miami while the accident happened 17 miles north of Nassasu.
The Coast Guard has issued a plane and a helicopter to scan the area for the missing person.
A Royal Caribbean spokesperson said: “Our crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort and is working with local authorities.
"We are also providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time. To respect the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no additional details to share.”
The woman was on the maiden voyage of the Taylor Swift-themed cruise, known as the 'In My Cruise Era: The Taylor Fan's Cruise Group'.
TMZ reported that events onboard the ship include friendship-bracelet swapping, Taylor trivia, dance parties, karaoke, a ship-wide scavenger hunt, a door-decorating contest and nightly Era outfit themes.
It still unsure whether the missing woman was indeed a Taylor Swift fan, or happened to be on the ship at the same time the event was going on.
