When it Comes to Holidays, The Irish Know How to Dress (Apparently…)

GAA jerseys, legs that are so pale they could rival a milk bottle - according to a recent survey about holiday fashion, all of this is grand and we actually wear okay outfits when we're abroad...who would have thought it?

Believe it or not, but when it comes to rocking an outfit while on holiday, the Irish actually know how to dress well. Yes, despite the fact that some of us just fling on a GAA jersey, some hurling shorts and a pair of flip-flops (you know who you are!).

The Irish Daily Star reports that in a recent survey about holiday fashion, the rest of Europe was quite okay about the fact that when it comes to travelling abroad, us Irish people usually tend to stick out like a sore thumb.

Come on ladies, you know what we’re like – the county colours wrapped around our suitcases (just so we know it’s ‘ours’), asking directions to the nearest Irish bar as soon as we get there, and rocking a GAA jersey on the beach while everyone else is wearing swimming togs…need we go on?

Anyway, the survey, which was carried out by lastminute.com, revealed that the worst-dressed nationality are the Germans, who, according to the survey, tend to love heading down to the beach in a Speedo when they fancy a swim.

Socks and Sandals: the ultimate fashion no-no.

German was closely followed by England – the Brits were accused of rocking the awful sartorial sin of wearing the dreaded sock-and-sandal combo while they’re abroad.

Finally, America, China and Russia came in a joint third position.

So ladies, if you’re currently packing your bags for a holiday abroad remember the following: GAA jerseys are completely grand although you might want to tell himself that the socks and the speedos are a definite no-no…
