Wexford church has mass to pray for better weather

Only in Ireland…

A church in rural Wexford has had a mass to pray for better weather.

The mass, which took place in St Brigid’s Church, Kilrush in Co. Wexford, was led by Fr. Joseph Power earlier this week.

Speaking to the Farmers Journal, Fr Power explained: “One of my parishioners, who is very concerned at the weather and its effect on people locally, requested that I say a mass. I am happy to do so.”

Fr Power, who said that the weather on Monday was truly awful, added that “a mass for an improvement in the weather can’t do any harm and hopefully will do some good”.

reland was battered by Storm Kathleen over the weekend and things look like they could continue on a downward spiral.

According to Met Eireann, later this evening there will be “more persistent rain and drizzle which will clear eastwards early on though some patchy light rain and drizzle will continue, along with some hill and coastal fog”

Tomorrow is expected to be “mainly dry with just a few spots of drizzle before scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle will move into the southwest through the morning, becoming more widespread through the afternoon and evening”.

The rest of the week is expected to be quite similar.

Met Éireann has also suggested that the weather should pick up from next week so fingers crossed and let’s say another mass.
