We’re Hiring… Her.ie Is On The Hunt For An Editor

Time to dust down those CVs...

Her

Her.ie is the smart, current and edgy digital destination for Irish women, boasting more than 2.3 million unique users each month.

From popular culture to the arts, from light entertainment to current affairs, Her.ie also shines a spotlight on the important stuff too. Whether it’s the empowering Her Say video series that captures the admirable strength of women all over the country, or why your mental well being deserves as much care and attention as every other element of your life, Her.ie continues to create great content that readers share with friends and encourages change.

We’re looking for a person to shape the future of news, views, information and entertainment for women in Ireland.

Her.ie has garnered a loyal and vocal social audience that enjoys digesting content in all forms. In just three years, we’ve amassed a following of 450k across Twitter and Facebook, providing the perfect gathering ground for Irish women to discuss and share personal stories, experiences and opinions.

We write for every woman. Those who contribute in small but significant ways, those that inspire and lead, and those that are guaranteed to make you laugh. We speak to the reader instead of at them, which is why Her.ie has become a firm fixture in the daily lives of Irish women.

We’re now searching for the right individual to lead our talented editorial team.

Who you are:

  • Passionate about digital media and tech savvy. We are a socially centric organisation and a strong emphasis on mobile journalism is key.
  • Social media enthusiast, for both work and leisure. Wherever the Her.ie audience is, you will be there too, both online and offline.
  • Strong knowledge of current affairs with a journalistic instinct. Familiar with all newsgathering services – traditional, apps and all other platforms.
  • An experienced writer, ideally with three to five years sub-editing.
  • Visionary – someone that recognises the potential in the Her.ie brand and has a strong sense of how the site can develop.
  • And last but not least, a leader that has the ability, to not only recognise potential in the current editorial team but foster continual development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Maximum Media management team to formulate a content strategy.
  • Generate and implement editorial plans for every quarter – highlight any commercial opportunities within these periods.
  • Add to and mould a team of journalists to help deliver the best content that talent can offer, across all formats.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards of website user experience.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Client Services teams across multiple campaigns.
  • Build and maintain relationships with PRs, broadcasters, film distributors etc.
  • Monitor all material housed on site.

Who you’ll be working with…

We’re adapting and constantly growing, and to show our commitment to the evolution of Her.ie, we’ve hired some incredibly talented women that have blown us away. This adds to the straight up ladies that are only now getting their chance to shine.

Megan Cassidy, the video frontwoman that has brought a new energy to the site since she joined. Never afraid to tackle any topic, Cassidy’s the woman to take you from feminism to frivolous fun in the bedroom and every aisle in between. She gives the team its spunk, no pun intended.

Liz McHugh, whose genuine honesty in her account of life has resonated with readers, as she brought us into her inner dialogue of getting fit, keeping healthy and fitting into that goddamn dress. McHugh has also inspired many with her candid accounts of her personal grief and how she has overcome it.

Cassie Delaney, one of the brightest women on the block that will have Her Say on any topic. Usually found instructing from behind the camera, Delaney is passionate about social issues and empowering women. The Adele fanatic likes to think she’s funny but you’ll be the judge of that.

Cathy Donohue, our Galway girl that has expanded our fashion horizons, taking us from the basement bargains to the heart of London Fashion Week. Donohue likes the finer things in life, having the ability to be the first to find the latest trend in beauty, fashion, accessories and the rest.

Now, for the new kids on the block…

Ciara Knight, the lady you never knew you wanted as your best friend. Life though her eyes bring a degree of hilarity that is normally reserved for you and your closest pal.
