Waterford has once again secured top recognition from Condé Nast Traveller, earning international acclaim for a second consecutive year after being named the top of the '7 Wonders of Ireland' for 2026.
The 2026 list highlights locations that offer a fresh perspective on Ireland’s landscape and culture, with Waterford’s Copper Coast and Greenway leading the way as standout attractions.
Visit Waterford said it’s delighted by the recognition, seeing it as a nod to the county’s mix of coastal beauty, outdoor adventure, and heritage. Being named by Condé Nast Traveller for a second year shows its ongoing global appeal.
“At Visit Waterford, we are absolutely delighted to see the county recognised once again by Condé Nast Traveller,” said Clare Barrett, Chair of Visit Waterford.
“To be named for a second consecutive year is a huge honour and a testament to the incredible natural beauty we have here, from the Copper Coast to the Greenway, and to the passion and dedication of the people and businesses who bring the visitor experience to life every day.
"This recognition really puts Waterford on the global stage as a must-visit destination.”
At the heart of the recognition is the Copper Coast, a stretch of shoreline shaped by its 19th-century mining history and now known for its dramatic cliffs and quiet beaches.
Nearby, the Waterford Greenway offers a different kind of outdoor experience. Running from Waterford City to Dungarvan, the trail lets visitors explore at a relaxed pace, passing old railway bridges, riverside views, and the foothills of the Comeragh Mountains.
Along the way, highlights such as Mount Congreve Gardens are featured by Conde Nast Traveller, along with The Hat Maker boutique hotel, reflecting a destination that continues to innovate while staying true to its character.
“As more travellers look for meaningful and immersive experiences, Waterford offers something truly special,” Clare Barrett added.
“Whether it’s cycling the Greenway, exploring hidden coves along the coast, or simply taking time to enjoy the scenery and hospitality, there is a sense of discovery here that really resonates with visitors.”
Visit Waterford also pointed out that winning for a consecutive year also signals a broader shift in how Ireland is being experienced internationally, with increasing interest in destinations that offer authenticity and natural beauty.
