A father who went on TV in Detroit to appeal for information on his missing son found out his boy had been located alive – in the basement of the family home.
Charlie Bothuell was reported missing on June 14th but was later found by police crouching in the basement of his family’s home surrounded by a makeshift barricade of boxes and bedding.
The 12-year old’s father was told during a taped interview for the Nancy Grace Show that his son was found in his basement, leaving him gasping for breaths in total shock.
TV host Nancy Grace broke the news of the discovery, confirming Charlie was alive, asking his father Charles, “how could your son be alive in your basement?”
Clearly in shock from the situation, Bothuell started gasping for breaths, saying “I.. I have, I have no idea”.
Detectives said they didn’t know if Charlie has been in the basement the entire time he was missing but appeared nervous and hungry.
Charlie’s father had appeared on the Nancy Grace Show appealing for help in locating his son.
Shocked from the revelation, Bothuell said:
“I searched my basement, my wife searched my basement, the FBI searched my basement, the Detroit Police searched my basement… I’ve been down there several times”.
According to the Associated Press, Charlie’s father has since undertaken a polygraph test administered by the FBI, which proved inconclusive.
