If you need proof you’re never too old to try something new, this is it.
Vera Abruzzi, a great-grandmother from New Jersey, finally got her wish after 80 years – to drive a semi-truck.
With some planning by her grandson, the 97-year old got the chance to finally make her dreams come true, and just behind the wheel of a 70-foot big rig, with some help from the instructors at Winsor’s Tractor Trailer Driving School.
Abruzzi was allowed drive the truck around a secluded car park under supervision.
Speaking to WABV-TV, Abruzzi said:
“I want to experience a real 18 wheeler. If I was on the highway, I’d go 90.”
It seems Abruzzi even impressed her instructors, who told the local TV station the pensioner had no problem navigating the steering.
Now this is our kind of lady! Good work Vera!
