In a vote which took place today, US Senate Republicans have voted to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood services.

ABC News reports that this the introduction of this measure would almost have the same effect as repealing President Obama’s health care law.

It’s though that the Senate will send the bill to the President but the White House has pledged that he will veto it.

Democrats were notably in favour of the funding but the Republican vote won out with a majority of 54-46.

The vote comes less than a week after three people were killed at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado.

Planned Parenthood is an American organisation that provides legal abortions, sexual health testing, birth control and other services.
