It was announced last month that technology giant Intel were restructuring the company, and that involved a massive cut in employee numbers around the globe.
As Intel’s European headquarters are located in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, many people were wondering if there would be many job losses.

RTÉ have reported that the majority of expected redundancies will be largely voluntary in nature, and staff in each of the five business units are being briefed on a one-to-one basis.
A redundancy package of around five weeks per year of service plus statutory entitlements is on the table, and employees will have several weeks to consider the offer.
The final number of job losses won’t be known for a few weeks, but the way the company are structuring the layoffs it could be up to 600 people.
However, because of recent investments made in Intel Ireland, employees here may escape the worst of the cuts.
It is most likely that the jobs lost will be in the low 100s.
